This session will cover key aspects of ADHD, especially “time blindness,” and how this affects students in the virtual world. Learn practical strategies to help students manage their time and stay engaged in their online course. This will make it easier to create supportive online spaces that enhance student success and participation.
Participants will learn about the implications of various literacy disabilities in the virtual classroom. We will participate in simulations of common literacy disabilities to give us a better understanding of what our students may experience daily. In addition, we will discuss how to support students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and apraxia of speech with appropriate accommodations, as well as some benefits of virtual learning.
When educators think of hospital-homebound, medically fragile students, students who have entered FAPE, or those receiving special standards, virtual education is rarely the first thought to come to mind but maybe it should be! Virtual education is no longer only for the high-performing, self-guided learner. Come see how we have changed virtual education to encompass the needs of unique special needs learner populations to help you design similar programs for your students too.
Join the ESE team at OCVS as we share our approach to building relationships and delivering services to our Exceptional Student Education (ESE) population in a virtual setting. This session will explore the vital roles each team member plays in supporting student success, including the implementation of virtual services in ELA, Math, Social Skills, and Learning Strategies. We will demonstrate how we collect data to monitor progress toward Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and share effective student engagement platforms and strategies used in the virtual classroom. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a live Q&A session via a QR code and engage in meaningful collaboration with other virtual schools.
